It was a similar morning as yesterday out at Captain Sam's with 13 new birds and 10 recaptures of 11 species. The highlight of the morning was a recaptured Northern Mockingbird that I banded as a hatch-year last fall on August 21st. The migrants are slowly moving through and giving us more variety, but we are hoping for more numbers in the near future.

Little Bear
Today was great with a nice slow wind coming from the north. We started out the first net run with quite a bit of birds. We had a total of 13 new birds banded and a total of 2 birds were recaptured. One of the newly banded birds was a female Black-throated Blue Warbler during our first check! She was absolutely beautiful. You can see how they are somewhat similar to the males but are more green overall. You can see the white patch on the wing on both birds, also known as a handkerchief, that can help indicate age.
