Today was a great day! We had 56 newly banded birds and 14 recaptured birds. We also got two new FOS! White-throated Sparrow and American Robin! It was pretty good to see both of these birds up close in the hand. White-throated Sparrows can have two different color variation on the supercilium, which is the patch of color above the eye on the birds. Some sparrows will have white, while the other will have a tan color. The White-throated Sparrow pictured below has the tan supercilium. During mating season, the sparrows will breed with the opposite color of the supercilium.

LITTLE BEAR
There was some decent bird movement on the radar last night, which was evident this morning as Yellow-rumped Warblers streamed overhead. We expected to catch more with how much was moving around, but we still caught 41 new birds and 9 recaptures of 14 different species. We also recaptured a Northern Mockingbird that was banded on 10/24/2016. It looks like we may have storms pushing through the area tomorrow morning but hopefully we can get some banding in before the rain.
