Kiawarblers!

Captain Sam's:

Greetings from the crew on Kiawah Island!

Oh Hello!!
This morning we woke to a small shift in winds which blew both Kristin and a host of warbler species down to Captain Sam's. Kristin, Arcata, and I bravely wrestled with the wind and although we put up a good fight, ultimately the wind won and we closed ten of our nets early. But we banded some beauts early in the morning including a couple of Black-throated Blue Warblers, a bunch of Common Yellowthroats, and a Prothonotory Warbler!

Little Bear:

Just like at Captain Sam's, the wind was strong at Little Bear this morning. We weren't able to open a few of our nets, and we closed several more as the morning progressed. All in all, it was one of our least productive sessions of the season with only 18 birds of 4 species captured, mostly Common Yellowthroats. With more wind in the forecast for tomorrow, I doubt we'll see much uptick in numbers, but keeping our fingers crossed for the best.
