Super Slow Day

CAPTAIN SAM'S
It was really slow out on the spit today.  We dodged rain showers all morning and had to close the nets down for about 40 minutes around 7:00am.  We ended up banding only 12 birds and had an additional 15 recaptures. We had a couple of returning Yellow-rumped Warblers.  One was originally banded on 11/25/2018 as a hatch-year male.  The other was banded on 11/21/2015 as a hatch-year female and was subsequently recaptured on 11/1/2016 and 11/20/2017.  She escaped our nets last year it seems.

LITTLE BEAR
Today was a slow day! With rain in the forecast today it slowed down the bird movement. With a total of 15 birds we caught a total of 7 species. We did get to see our feather friend, a Merlin, hanging out in a tree near the station. I am hoping before we are done for the season we can capture one!
