Captain Sams:
Our little streak of 30-50 bird days came to a close today. With the temperatures getting hotter, humidity levels rising early, and migration slow our day totals aren't as exciting. That being said you never know what will end up in the nets on days like today. Everyone at Captain Sam's today were able to view close to shore Bonnethead sharks foraging and the pleasant sunrise, later on in the day between net runs all of us were able to get some reading in. It's quite peaceful to read when the breeze comes through slightly, you can hear the ocean, and Laughing Gulls calling in the distant. We'll still be banding tomorrow but everyone have a safe and fun Labor Day weekend!

Little Bear:
Today was a little better than yesterday! We ended up with a total of 24 birds, with 18 of them being newly banded. Our highest species today was Painted Buntings. While opening up nets, I can hear them chipping and knew our first round of birds will most likely consist of all Painted Buntings. We didn't add anything new to our species list but I'm hoping someone will end up getting a tanager sooner or later this week!
