Captain Sams:
We had a nice chilled morning at the station today. Even though the strong NE wind was pushing things away from the nets, we managed to capture 27 birds with 10 recaptures today. The constant 90 percent cloud cover all morning brought us bird slow but steady. Almost every net run, we had about 4 birds or so, giving us some time to review the aging, skulling skills that we've gained so far.
Interestingly, the celebrity Bell's Vireo captured yesterday found his way to our net again today. We processed him quickly so that he could get rid of us again, and we found not fat stored yet. Hopefully, this little guy could gain some fat and continue his way to his wintering ground. Additionally, after Little Bear got their first House Wren, we also caught one today. He was a little pudgy that traveled through the area as they don't breed around the Island.

The wind is coming from the North tonight, so maybe more movement will pick up. But hopefully the strength of the wind doesn't spoil our work too much!

Little Bear:
Not too many birds today, with a small grand total of 15. The day had a challenging start, with mosquitos aplenty, but we stayed strong and ended the day with high spirits.
Natalie prepared to take on the masses of mosquitos!
The day brought us nine different species, including a Downy Woodpecker, a Veery, and a sassy but cute hatch-year White-eyed Vireo.

Surely things will pick up again soon, and we are looking forward to all the birds coming our way!
