CAPTAIN SAMS
Today was another hot slow day out at Captain Sams. We only caught 18 birds, 13 new and 5 recaptures. The two highlights of the day were a brand new Brown Thrasher and a beautiful adult male Prothonotary Warbler. Unfortunately the southern winds this morning prevented us from catching more birds. The wind will be changing this week and will bring with it some rain. Hopefully this pushes down some migrants!

Today was a little better with a total of 30 birds captured, out of those 30, 20 of them were newly banded. We captured most of our birds during our first net run, bringing in some migrants as well. We haven't captured many Redstarts this season at LB so, to see 4 of them today, was a treat!
The weather hasn't been super fun to work with this weekend but everyone is enjoying the birds we do capture. We have been seeing another heron hanging around the station since the last one was captured. Maybe this week could be that another new heron that might find our nets!
